Bacterial Biochemistry

Bacterial Biochemistry Photo
It comprises biochemical reactions in bacteria growth, its emphasis on bacterial cell structure, the interaction of biological macromolecules like carbohydrates, lipids, nucleic acids and about the catabolite repression, proximal control elements, attenuation.

Bacteria which is ubiquitous in nature is found in soil, water, air etc. It has a nucleoid and peptidoglycan layer which is composed of N-acetylmuramic acid and N-acetylglucosamine. Based on the thickness of peptidoglycan layer the bacteria have been characterized into gram-positive which consists of lipopolysaccharide and gram-negative which consists of teichoic acids. Study of bacterial biochemistry made advances in biotechnology industries. This laid down for the invention of new drugs for infectious diseases caused by bacteria.
